hinagis ko ang aking paningin sa kalawakan

tanging gawain ng mapagmahal na buwan

hihanaphanap ko likas na mga kagandahan

damdamin ko’y nasawi dahil sa kapabayaan

naglaho na at mistulang lawak ng buhanginan

bagamat nahaplos ako ng masidhing kalungkutan

di ko magawang sisihin ang kahit sino pa man

talagang ganyan ang likas na takbo ng kabihasnan

tataas ang init ng mga kapaligiran sa darating

sa araw puweding magluto ng itlog at sinaing

mga isda sa palaisdaaan ay papayat sa hapo

gayun din mga hayup, pagod at nanlulumo

lupay magiging tigang binilanggo ang butil

ano kaya mangyayari maliban sa makikitil

sa totoo akoy nangangamba sa kinabukasan

kahit kakaunti na laang buhay kong nakalaan

di natin kayang pigilin sa anumang paraan

pero makagagawa tayo para maipagpaliban

tagumpay niyan ay batay sa ating pagkakaisa

ayan nga laang sadyang nakakasakit sa iba

kagalingan natin iyon ngang may sinasaway

ang sarap niyan nauuwi sa tilamsik ng laway

pabayaan ba nating mga biyayang matangay

di kaba natatakot lulutang ka sa iyong hukay

    Those Trees

    The winding image and voice of childhood,
    Never leave us through the lushness of woods.
    We play the past amidst the forest jade;
    As winds strum the bamboos that serenade.
    In the gentle hush of leaves, hope reborn–
    Calls in verdant lace of spring, never worn.
    Sweet mem’ries chant with breeze the branches know–
    Of mango groves, the sunlight ribbons show.
    Venerable Narra, its placid stare,
    Despite the strife of times, a shade of care.
    Green glistening dance of leaves, never heard;
    Its ears sublime to notes of peace that fled.
    And each popping burst of twig we step on;
    Waving leaf rushing for each rustling morn.

    leave those branches grow
    bear fruits, and lush for you
    ribbons of light that embrace
    a i listen to rustling memories
    aaah! rhythm my heart beats desire
    as beautiful as the sound of a lyre
