Isang gabing pusikit, diwa ko’y tumatangis
Karimlan na sing-ubod ng aking pagkahapis
Subalit nang masilayan ko ang ngiti mong matamis
Damdamin ko’y sumigla, nagalak ng labis.
Bukal ng pag-ibig sa puso’y tumubo
Nabigyan ng kahulugan ang aking pagkatao
Malungkot kong buhay ay biglang nagbago
Noong araw na magkakilala tayo.
At mula noo’y nagbukang-liwayway
Nagkaroon ng kulay ang lahat sa aking buhay
Handa kong gawin ang lahat ng bagay
Nang upang sa piling ko, huwag ka lang mawalay.
Sa Poong Maykapal, panata ko at dalangin
Sana lalong tumibay ang ating damdamin
Salamat sa Kanya’t ibinigay ka sa akin
Dahil sa iyo ako ay wala ng hahanapin.

About: Melvin M. Laureano was born on August 7, 1980 in Camiling, Tarlac. He was a scholar of Department of Science and Tecnology - Science Education Institute (DOST-SEI) under the provision of the National Scholarship Act RA 7687. He studied Electronic Communications at Technological University of the Philippines. He worked as Finance Associate and a Store Manager at Video City under Viva Entertainment Group. In 2003, he went to Taiwan R.O.C. to work as OFW at a pharmaceutical manufacturing company. He joined the Filipino Poets & Writers' Association (Samahang Makata International) in 2007. He became an officer and actively participated in different cultural activities of the group such as balagtasan or poetic debate, cultural/folk dance exhibitions and competitions, poem recitals, stage plays, Pinoy Radio live literary performances, Philippine Tourism affairs and other international events. He was the champion in a short story writing contest in Taipei and one of his poems was selected as POEM of the Year in 2008. He was also awarded as Lakandiwa ng Taon in 2008's Best of the Best. Recently, he was appointed as project manager of the group. In August 2008, he moved to Canada. He was the founder of Samahang Makata International/Filipino Poets & Writers' Association in Calgary.He became a regular writer/contributor to a migrant's newspaper - Kabayan News of Alberta and currently, he writes for Pinoy Times Newspaper which he considers as a new home.
