I’ll take you to a journey

by Rod Escobin - LBNHS

So,
In order to reach our destination,
We should move fast without hesitation
If there’s a hole we should not stop
What we should do is we must hop;
And when we reached the other corner
Just say “Hello we are no strangers”
As we pass through don’t turn your back
Just walk so fast we won’t get track;
Then we shall take this narrow road
It’s very clear what cousin told
“And on that road, a lot of toads
Circling around the vicinity,
So you have to walk more carefully”; (a moan)

Then off we go we shall turn right
Don’t you worry it will be alright
Just a little more steps, don’t need to march
Slowly, steadily, we shall see a church;
Suddenly I then remember
Before we start, say a prayer
In-front of the church, what a nice scenery!
And if we cross, a helpful eatery;
By then we maybe a little hungry
There let us dine our stomachs are angry
Then I noticed a requisite, we really must eat there. . .
Bus Terminal bound to Laguna is just next there
What are we waiting for?, let us go
As viand they have chicken adobo
Luscious meal you ate, looks like you’re done
Let’s walk to the next gate and here be gone
Yellow and orange buses are all in-line
The orange has aircon, our ride will be fine
Hurry have a seat and if you wish take a nap
I’ll wake you up then, once we reach our stop
The bus peacefully moves and entered a toll-gate
The driver stepped on the gas and oh! how great!
I look out of the window and there I see
High buildings of good designs and all are lovely
Then later, the view turned to greenery
Ricefields, meadows, and rows of narra trees
Nearly two hours ride to the house of my cousin
Who happens to be living in a suburb province
Sccrcchh., the bus sounds, Wake-up it’s time to go down
Now all we have to do is find our way to town
A jeepney driver I negotiated “Take us to the fiesta”
He grins, it’s the feast of San Antonio de Padua
I gave him my cousin’s address
He says “it’s okay, sit down and rest”
We took paths that were zig-zagging
Beneath is a deep cliff and quite alarming
I endured bumps coz’ the road is rocky
In my mind I said “I hope we get lucky”
We finally reached an antique house
This trip, it gave me a bit of drowse
Visitors eating and some are drinking
I seldom drink, to me it’s sickening
Hey cousin what took you so long who’s with you? Can I query?
The one who read this poem and joined me to this journey.
