encroaching grass

by manonton dalan

dark clouds wanting to cry
so low i feel they pass me by
chased by persistent wind
corralled by tall mountain
circling overhead, whirlpool
forming threads in spool
pale brightness from sun
guiding my journey to lowland

lightning kisses the ground
so bright, lights whole town
drummer from sky plays music
beats that brings tears to peak
thousand arrows coming down
melting, forming shallow lakes
as birds fold their wings to drip
earthworms crawl out of their pit

i can hear splash from my footsteps
mud splattering on low-lying leaves
painting my presence to be wash quick
trailing tracks i made would be left
for curious minds; who wants to know?
after passionate rain, where did i go
or ignored by time; turning to dust
swallowed by encroaching grass
