Spring Bud
Ed’s Notes: Below post is a copy of the page featuring “Spring Bud” which was judged First Place in the recently concluded March 06, 2008 PoetrySoup International Poetry Contest in the USA. Upon the request of some emanilapoetry Writers Group members, Ernesto P. Santiago, also a member of emanilapoetry Writers Group has re-posted his winning entry to this site.

Author’s Notes:
1. This is the original “Spring Bud” in un-shape form. To be more creative, I decided to shape it like a bud and omitted some phrases…to leave the readers think/guess/wonder…
Spring Bud
My (Omitted: Misty Spring… from the concluding lines)
Breathe (Omitted: my imaginations that)
Shivers under
A rug of loneliness
A sleepy heart huddles
Against such memories
Of togetherness and not of
Goodbyes, hating to disperse
The fiery rhymes of your lips
As well as the warmth of its
Sweat…tastes like red wine
Then its beats…and beats
Gently, as it envisions
You, in an early
Misty
Spring
2. A comment from Mark Pringle, US Poet, Managing Director and President of PoetrySoup: “I love it Ernesto. It has actually inspired me to experiment with my poetry…using verbs as nouns. Kudos.”
