love affairs

by A. Juan Mangubat

the sultry chocolate still left inside my mouth,
melting away as our lips brushed against each others.
the steam rising from our joined bodies, quivering
with excitement as we married by the moonlight.
eyes closed as we felt the ecstasy of our bodies moving slowly,
undulating with the rhythm of our whirlwind love
affair.
quick and fleeting we broke apart from our
love affair to the noises of intruding voices in our midst.
the adrenaline and the ecstasy heightening our want for one
another only to be extinguished by a new emotion–fear.
the lights come on, and they enter, together wrapped
in our tight embrace, holding each other until the lights go out
forevermore.
